There is little doubt that people are still disappointed that Netflix has canceled all of its Marvel shows. However, fans are still holding on to hope that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher will eventually cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But is it possible that this won't actually happen? A new report suggests that Netflix could prevent Marvel Studios from bringing The Defenders into the MCU.
It's no secret that Netflix got a great deal with Marvel with shows like The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, The Punisher, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Unfortunately, all of these shows were canceled by early 2019 and Marvel isn't even allowed to use the same characters in the MCU for at least two years after the cancellation.
For now, Marvel hasn't announced any plans for the properties. On the other hand, people are already hoping for a Defenders film in the near future since it was the first Marvel Netflix series that was canceled. Unfortunately, there is a possibility that the streaming service might prevent this from happening if they refuse to allow Marvel to use the name Defenders in their new projects (via ScreenRant).
It seems like an unusual move and we're hoping that this doesn't happen for any of the Marvel properties. In the meantime, we're waiting for some updates on new MCU projects.
