Netflix Issues Warning To People Trying The Bird Box Challenge

Bird Box is turning out to be a huge hit although some millennials have no idea who Sandra Bullock is. However, the new horror flick is gaining popularity for a completely different reason. People have been trying the Bird Box Challenge. Not surprisingly, Netflix has issued a warning about the dangers of the new internet trend.

But what exactly is the Bird Box Challenge? The new dare requires people to wear blindfolds as they go about their daily routine. Although some choose to only do so for a short period, one YouTuber tried to keep herself blind for 24 hours. Needless to say, it's a scary trend and Netflix wants everyone to just quit. The streaming giant posted the warning on their official Twitter account. Take a look at the tweet below.

"Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don't know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes," the tweet read.

In case you missed Bird Box, Boy and Girl are two of the important characters in the movie. They are the children who join Bullock's character on a quest to find a safe place in a world where your deepest fears somehow become real. Needless to say, these sweet kids had every reason to be concerned about their own safety in the film and wouldn't like the idea of people actively putting on blindfolds for the fun of it.

Bird Box is currently streaming on Netflix.
