Netflix Announces 'Masters of the Universe' Anime with Kevin Smith as the Showrunner

It looks like Netflix really wants that weeb money as the company has announced a new Masters of the Universe anime called Masters of the Universe: Revelation and it will have Kevin Smith as the showrunner. That is huge news, especially with a movie on the way, and it looks like the momentum for this franchise is going to continue. Hopefully, the show is going to be a good one, especially with the amount of quality anime in this streaming service.

Rather than reboot the franchise like Voltron or Saint Seya did, Masters of the Universe is going to be a direct continuation of the original ‘80s series. That's a really interesting direction to go to since there might not be a lot of people who remember the series. Then again, ‘80s nostalgia has been bigger than ever so there's a very good chance that this series will thrive.

The series will probably have some quality animation since Castlevania animation studio Powerhouse Animation will be working on it. Unfortunately, aside from the teaser image that was shown above, there isn't any promo images or even a trailer for the show. Still, the news should be exciting for fans of the old show or anime in general.

As of this moment, there is no release date for Masters of the Universe: Revelation. It will be streaming on Netflix, so expect a full season to drop.
