Ever since David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, collectively known as DnD by many nerds, left Star Wars to sign with Netflix, we've been waiting for the company to announce what the Game of Thrones showrunners had in-store for us and they did just that by revealing a new series from them called The Chair. There are still a lot of fans who are excited to see what they are doing, while others are less excited since the final Game of Thrones season was a mess due to a lack of more material to adapt.
It seems like the two are great at adapting but aren't that great when it comes to the original material. Seriously, those final few seasons were painful to watch and a lot of it was because of them (some of it was George R.R. Martin taking a long-ass time to write his books).
Anyway, Netflix announced that The Chair would be produced by Benioff and Weiss, with Gray's Anatomy star Sandra Oh and Jay Duplass confirmed to star in it. The series has been described as a six-episode dramedy about some sort of chair in an English department at some major university. They did not reveal more details so it looks like we'll have to wait for more details.
Will The Chair actually be good? We can only hope. Sandra Oh is a great actress while David Benioff and D.B. Weiss can be good when motivated/adapting existing material. Let's see where this goes. No release date has been revealed.
