Neill Blomkamp Has 'Moved On' From His Alien Movie

Despite his latest films not getting the hottest reviews, Neill Blomkamp still manages to be one of the best visual director out there, and back in 2015, there was buzz that he was working on a direct sequel to Aliens with Sigourney Weaver coming back to play Ellen Ripley. Of course, the film didn't push through, and Blomkamp has opened up about moving on from a film that will never be.

He posts:

For a while, it seemed that his Alien movie was going to happen, but after the release of Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, any chances of making Blomkamp's movie are dead in the water. Scott is still planning on making more Alien movies, and it looks like he wants to be the only one taking the reins.

Though I think Scott is an amazing visual director, I think he should be more open to having other people work on his franchise. I think Marvel movies have that added color when they have different directors take on installments of a franchise (e.g. the Thor trilogy). I can only wonder how creatively frustrated David Yates must be to commit to directing nothing but Fantastic Beasts films for the next ten years.

Hopefully Blomkamp comes up with a hit as big as District 9. Sure Elysium and Chappie were misfires, but there's nowhere to go but up for him.
