Naughty Dog Reveals Awesome Uncharted 4 Easter Egg in The Last of Us Episode 2

There is little doubt that The Last of Us is proving to be a faithful adaptation of the video game but it does feature some interesting (and absolutely acceptable) changes from the source. For instance, Episode 2 actually featured a subtle Easter Egg to another Naughty Dog title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End!

In The Last of Us Episode 2, it is revealed that Tess had been bitten by a Clicker and although Ellie had confirmed that the Fireflies are working on a cure, she knows the end is near for her. When the Clickers attack the State House, Tess forces Joel to take Ellie to Bill and Frank and stays behind to stop the Infected from following them. Her plan is to blow up the entire building by igniting gasoline with her lighter and although a Clicker attaches to her, Tess manages to light it up.

It was a tense moment so we understand if you didn't focus that much on the lighter. Still, Naughty Dog wants fans to pay attention because it was an awesome reference to another video game.

"UNCHARTED fans: Did Tess's lighter from last night's episode of #TheLastOfUs look familiar? It was modeled after Sam Drake's lighter from UNCHARTED 4: A Thief's End!" the tweet reads.

That's right, most of us didn't realize that we just saw a near-identical prop inspired by Uncharted 4. Nevertheless, nobody should be blamed for missing the Easter Egg because it's hard not to freak out while watching that scene.

The Last of Us Episode 2 changed the way Tess is killed by having the Clickers attack instead of having her go down in a blaze of gunfire against FEDRA. It was a welcome change that confirmed just how dangerous the Infected could be while also providing a more emotional exit for Anna Torv's character.

The Last of Us Episode 2 is titled Infected and is now streaming on HBO Max.
