Nathan Fillion Comments On His Wonder Man Cameo Being Cut In Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Anyone who was paying close attention to the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 can tell you that Nathan Fillion was set to cameo in the movie as Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder Man. Though a lot of people were definitely excited to see Fillion come back, his cameo was ultimately cut from the movie.

In an interview with The Ara Radio Show (via CBR), Fillion opens up about having the cameo cut from the film, and he understands that this happens in movies all the time. He says:

"I was going to be an Easter egg in the background…[there was] a Simon Williams Film Festival, and I was in all of the movie posters… If you know the Marvel Universe, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man, becomes an Avenger. So, he's part of that universe. It was a neat little Easter egg, it was a neat little piece of the universe. It didn't get into the movie. That's fine. That happens all the time. I still had the same wonderful experience. But moving forward, I don't know, let me see what we can do with this opportunity. That's just a cleverly disguised opportunity. Am I right?"

Fillion had a brief cameo in the first Guardians movie where he was the prisoner who was threatening to "go to town" on Peter Quill before Groot picks him up through the nostrils. This Wonder Man cameo would have actually seen Fillion as himself, but with it being cut, you can't help but wonder (hehe) just when Wonder Man will ever pop up in the MCU again.

Maybe he can be in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special?
