Natalie Portman Agreed to Work on Thor: Love and Thunder to Impress Her Kids

We are all happy and excited to see Natalie Portman's return as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder. After all, the trailer has pretty much confirmed that Portman got properly jacked to play The Mighty Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.

It's great to know that Natalie Portman was ready to continue Jane Foster's story in the MCU but the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith actor revealed that wasn't the only reason why she came back for the fourth Thor film. Portman admitted she wanted to impress her children by playing a true superhero!

Natalie Portman recently spoke to Variety where she revealed what pushed her to accept the physically challenging role as the Mighty Thor in Love and Thunder.

“I feel like it’s the phase of my career where I’m really trying to just impress my kids,” Portman said. She then shared how her children enjoyed seeing her transformation in the movie.

“My 5-year-old and my 10-year-old were so enthralled by this process, getting to visit the set and see me dressed up in a cape. It made it really cool. You know, it’s very rare that my kids are like, ‘Please go to work!’ Usually, it’s quite the opposite,” Portman stated.

We're not surprised that Portman's children (with Black Swan co-star Benjamin Millepied) loved seeing their mother as an action star. With that in mind, we're also looking forward to seeing Portman in action next month.

Thor: Love and Thunder also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, and Jaimie Alexander. Christian Bale joins the franchise as Gorr the God Butcher who is hellbent on killing all gods. The film will finally hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
