Nancy Drew Season 4 Announced to be the Series’ Last; Showrunners, Kennedy McNann Bid Goodbye

The CW has added Nancy Drew Season 4 to its cancellation spree this year. The network announced Monday, October 24, that the show's upcoming fourth season would be it's last

Showrunners Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor then released a joint statement to thank fans and confirmed Nancy Drew Season 4 would be the series' last outing.

Showrunners Confirm Final Season

"We are so honored and proud to have brought Nancy Drew's iconic determination, individuality, and resilience to life in a years-long collaboration with incredible creative talents in front of the camera, behind the scenes, and among our studio and network partners," Landau and Taylor said, via TVLine.

"Our hearts are full of gratitude, knowing that we are able to bring this chapter to a close with intentionality, inclusivity, and kindness — and of course, with plenty of sleuthing twists, supernatural scares, and star-crossed romance along the way," they continued. "We are especially indebted to our wonderful fan community, whose connection with our themes and stories has meant the world to us."

They then promised that Nancy Drew Season 4 would be the perfect payoff for fans' continued love and support.

Alternatively, lead star Kennedy McNann was also grateful for starting her career as a small part of the series' "endless legacy."

"What a privilege to walk in her shoes for as long as I have, to be inspired by her, and to grow with her," she stated. "I wish our incredible fans could feel the heart and passion of our crew that has been ever-present on and off screen, day in and day out, since the very beginning. You are every bit a part of this incredible show as we are. Thank you, thank you, thank you for every ounce of passion and kindness you have shared with me and with each other."

The CW's Cancellation Spree

Nancy Drew is the latest show The CW has canceled this year. The Flash and Riverdale will also see its end during the 2022-2023 broadcast.

The news comes on the network's uncertain future after Nextar Media Group acquired 75 percent of the ownership stake in The CW. Now, it eyes to target older viewers and do low-cost, unscripted programming.

The longtime The CW president, Mark Pedowitz, already stepped down from his post after the acquisition was finalized.

Nancy Drew Season 4's release date will be announced later.
