The Star Wars universe has enjoyed a resurgence through streaming with The Mandalorian spearheading another revolution for the beloved science fiction franchise. Sadly, the same thing can't be said for its film slate which has been plagued with multiple setbacks and cancelations over the last three years.
Despite that, Lucasfilm is more determined to bring the saga back to the big screen and according to the latest reports, the next chapter in the franchise will begin right after the events of The Rise of Skywalker with Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy currently working on the project.
Apart from that, several film projects are also under development including Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, Taika Waititi's untitled film, a Kevin Feige-produced epic penned by Michael Waldron, and most recently, a mystery movie to be directed by Stranger Things and Deadpool 3's Shawn Levy.
Now, it looks like the production company is adding another untitled film to its growing slate of future projects. Deadline reports that Lucasfilm enlisted two new writers to work on a mystery project — Dan Hernandez and Ben Samit who worked on 2019's Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
The outlet didn't disclose whether nor not it would be for a Star Wars-related project but evidence points to their potential involvement in a galaxy far, far away because as it turns out, both writers are massive fans of the franchise.

Hopefully, this long-term film plan from Lucasfilm will be able to replicate the success of their streaming offerings because let's face it, they can't afford another sequel trilogy disaster at this rate.
