Winter 2023 has lots of interesting titles, and one of them is My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog, an NSFW anime that premiered yesterday and got compared by viewers to Chainsaw Man.
While Chainsaw Man is not exactly a safe-for-work show given its extreme violence, Inukai-san’s Dog is NSFW because of its particularly lewd story and scenarios.
A New Pochita Appears
Announced a few months ago, My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog got attention from anime fans back then for its wild and totally not-safe-for-work premise.
The anime follows Pochita, a high school boy who suddenly finds himself turned into a dog.
As he looks for a way to become a human again, he is taken in by Karen Inukai, a classmate with whom he has a crush.
While Inukai is typically reserved and quiet, she is revealed to be a dog lover. She then spends a lot of time with Pochita and even bathes with him.
Given its wild premise and incredibly lewd trailer, fans had a mixed response to it after it was revealed.
Some criticized it for being a trashy anime, while others hoped that new anime viewers won’t accidentally stumble upon it.
But there are also some who are excited to watch the show, with many saying that watching NSFW anime like this is their guilty pleasure.
The anime’s first episode premiered yesterday, and while it was only half the length of a typical anime episode, it sparked lots of discussions online.

My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog and Chainsaw Man
Despite being completely different in terms of story, some My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog viewers were reminded of Chainsaw Man.
This is primarily because the main character is named Pochita, which is possibly a reference to the Chainsaw Devil.
Dogs are a big element in both shows. In Chainsaw Man, Denji is told by Makima to be her obedient dog. Meanwhile, Inukai-san’s Pochita becomes a literal dog.
Aside from tweets, there were also several comments in the first episode’s Reddit discussion thread about the two shows.
Some are even joking about how Inukai-san might secretly be a Chainsaw Man spinoff.
Of course, that doesn’t mean fans of Chainsaw Man will love also this show.
While both shows can be crass, Chainsaw Man at least has some substance. From the looks of it, Inukai-san’s appeal is limited to its lewd nature.
