The anime had two turning points already ahead of season 2, and recently, fans got to see Mushoku Tensei’s Turning Point 3, which had huge developments for the story.
To fully understand what happened there and why it's a big moment, it’s important to know what the turning points are in Mushoku Tensei.

Mushoku Tensei’s Turning Points, Explained
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation has chapters in the light novel (or episodes in the anime) titled Turning Points. As the name implies, these events have huge implications for the story.
In the anime, the first turning point happened early into season 1. The show’s eighth episode showed the teleport incident, which was a devastating event that teleported people to random places across the world.
The next turning point happened in season 1 episode 21, and it was the time that Rudeus Greyrat met Orsted the Dragon God. This point also marked the beginning of Hitogami appearing in Rudeus’ dreams.
At first glance, these events may seem to be just big events in Rudeus’ life. As the series goes on though, it’s revealed that these turning points are key events in the overarching struggle between Orsted and Hitogami.

What Happened in the Mushoku Tensei Light Novel's Turning Point 3?
Mushoku Tensei’s Turning Point 3 happened in chapter 7 of volume 11 in the light novel series.
This event begins with Rudeus finding out that Sylphy is pregnant with his child. Soon, Rudeus discovers that Zenith Greyrat is alive, and he is asked to help rescue her.
While Hitogami tells him not to go, Rudeus eventually sets out to rescue her. While Zenith is rescued, Paul ends up dying to protect Rudeus. These events also lead to Rudeus and Roxy's reunion.
Because of this, Rudeus and Roxy’s feelings rekindle, and Roxy soon becomes Rudeus’ second wife.
This proves to be a major turning point in the Orsted and Hitogami conflict as it’s prophesized that Lara Greyrat, the daughter of Rudeus and Roxy, will play a key role in Hitogami’s death.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 18 Shows Rudeus' Turning Point
The anime’s second season is expected to cover volumes 7 to 12, so it's not surprising that the season's 18th episode finally featured the turning point.
While this episode wasn't filled with action, it did feature Rudeus grappling with the letter he received and if he should leave, enough that he met again with Hitogami.
Despite having a fulfilling married life with Sylphy, Rudeus decides to take action, thus kicking off the new arc.
