Mushoku Tensei’s second season is back, but new episodes are not all that fans can look forward to. That’s because Mushoku Tensei – Quest of Memories finally has a release date for consoles worldwide.
This new game in the popular isekai franchise was announced for a Japanese release previously. Now though, fans in most of the world will be able to enjoy this new game that will feature some new story additions.
Mushoku Tensei – Quest of Memories' Story is Set During Season 1
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a popular isekai franchise that began as a web novel back in 2012. Since then, it has gotten a proper light novel version, a hit anime adaptation, and a manga.
As with most popular anime and manga, Mushoku Tensei also got a video game adaptation, though the first one is a mobile game that was released in March 2021. Sadly, that game ended service in August 2022.
Now, fans can look forward to another game titled Quest of Memories. What makes this exciting for many fans is that it will not only cover parts of the main story but will also feature new scenarios featuring original characters.
The game’s story will be set shortly after the Teleport Incident, and it will begin with Rudeus and Eris’ encounter with Ruijerd.

What is the Quest of Memories’ Gameplay Like?
Most video game adaptations typically fall into genres: arena fighting games, turn-based JRPGs, visual novels, and gacha games. The upcoming Mushoku Tensei game is a bit different.
While its gameplay is turn-based, it is more accurate to classify it as a dungeon RPG (or DRPG) as players cannot see the playable characters. Instead, they’ll only see the enemies in each combat encounter.
In the game, players will be able to control the following characters:
- Rudeus Greyrat
- Eris Boreas Greyrat
- Roxy Migurdia
- Sylphiette
- Ghislaine Dedoldia
- Ruijerd Superdia
These characters may not be visible in combat but fans will be happy to know that they’ll appear in the game’s story parts which will play out in a visual novel style.

Mushoku Tensei - Quest of Memories Console Release Date Announced
Many anime games are released only in Japan. Thankfully for fans internationally, Bushiroad Games will distribute this upcoming title worldwide, except in China.
Mushoku Tensei – Quest of Memories will be released on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam on June 20, 2024.
