Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani Breaks Silence on Finale's Surprising Twist

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel.

Just when we thought that Disney+'s Ms. Marvel was another snooze-fest, the finale reveals that Kamala Khan is a major character with an extraordinary DNA that is surprisingly tied to the X-Men.

In the Disney+ show's final episode, Bruno tells Kamala that her genes are exceptional and that "there's like a mutation" inside of it. For anyone unaware of how massive this revelation is, this confirms that Kamala Khan is the first mutant, and implies that the X-Men is finally coming soon into the mega-franchise.

Now, given how Ms. Marvel lead star Iman Vellani is a die-hard fan of the MCU, it's hard not to wonder how she reacted to the show's shocking twist.

Thankfully, in an interview with Marvel, Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani opens up about how she reacted after receiving the script for the final episode.

“They sent me, and only me, the draft [of the final episode], and I immediately freaked out… I emailed Kevin Feige in all caps," Vellani said. "I was like, are you doing this like for real? Are you sure? I'm so honored! I was like yelling at him through an email. I was freaking out. This is the biggest deal in the world, and the fact that it's happening in our show is crazy.”

Matt Lintz — who plays Bruno in the show unveiled that he's the only one who knows about the revelation since he's the one to utter the line. The actor said that it wasn't originally in the script, and the directors were very secretive about it.

Lintz' explained, “They didn't even have it in [the script]... I remember I was having a conversation about it and [the directors] were like, ‘Yeah, you say this crazy thing.’ They wouldn't even tell me what it was! I was like, ‘What's the deal here?’ They were very secretive about that whole thing.”

Although the scene was completely simple to take, Vellani couldn't get over it and revealed that it took a lot of takes. Vellani unveiled that the scene that made it from the show was the one where she was just "mildly serious." “It took a really long time to film that scene because any time Matt would say that word, I'd start giggling... I think we got the one take. The one you see in the episode is one of two that we got where I was mildly serious. It was really, really, really difficult. I think we have so many outtakes of me just breaking because I was so excited and giddy over this,” Vellani concludes.

Proclaiming Kamala Khan's origins as a mutant received diverse reactions from the fans. Some fans are totally opposing Kamala Khan's MCU origins as a mutant because it destroys her Inhuman origins from the source material. Amazingly, some are extremely exhilarated that the fan-favorite group of mutants is officially coming into the MCU sooner than expected.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Kamala's origins. Hopefully, her next appearance in The Marvels explores more of Khan's Ms. Marvel.
