Only a few days away from the release of her very own titular series, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani is already excited for everyone to get to know Kamala Khan and the actress revealed that she was able to establish a connection with her character through reading the comics.

The newest superhero to add to the roster of the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes is about to arrive with her own series, Ms. Marvel, which will introduce everyone to Kamala Khan and her origins as to how she got powers and be in the ranks with her idols like Captain Marvel in preparation for the upcoming film, The Marvels.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Iman Vellani shares how she established a connection with her character Kamala Khan through reading the comics starting with Ms. Marvel #19, "I'm like, 'OK, who's this brown girl now?' "It just blew my mind that a superhero comic was showcasing Eid. She was my total comfort character."

Vellani added how she connected with Kamala Khan through their similarities, “She felt so much like me, and a lot of that comes from not just her background and ethnicity but because she's such a fan of the Marvel universe, too."

Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, is a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American attending school in New Jersey who struggles to fit in. Kamala Khan is just like your average teenager who feels different in school trying to find her place.

She’s a huge fan of Captain Marvel, and finally, her dreams of being a superhero come true one day as she found some gauntlets in their attic that could give her powers unlike any other.

Iman Vellani will be portraying Ms. Marvel/ Kamala Khan and will be joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, and Laura Marsden. Reportedly, they would also be joined by Farhan Akhtar as well.

Ms. Marvel Episode 1 arrives at 3 AM EST on June 8, 2022, exclusively on Disney Plus.
