Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie Will Feature Iconic & Brutal Fatalities

The Mortal Kombat franchise is known for its bloody and gruesome Fatalities, and fans are wondering if they will be featured in the rebooted Mortal Kombat movie. According to actor Lewis Tan, the film will have some "iconic" and "brutal" fatalities. Characters in the fighting game franchise usually unleash these signature finishers, and it looks like these brutal moves will also be featured in the film.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Tan expressed his excitement for the Fatalities that will be featured in the Mortal Kombat movie reboot.

"There are some crazy fatalities," Tan revealed. "We've picked a couple of iconic ones. There's a lot of really cool signature moves that you'll see, a lot of Easter eggs that we snuck into the film, but there are some really badass fatalities that I can't wait to see on the big screen. They're brutal, man. They, they don't hold back."

Director Simon McQuoid also talked about the movie's Fatalities and how scenes like that could affect the film's rating. Last year, script writer Greg Russo already confirmed that the movie will receive an R rating, which McQuoid recently reiterated by saying that "it's definitely not gonna get a PG-13 rating."

McQuoid said that it's not just the Fatalities that will give the film an R-rating but also the level of blood. "Out of context this quote might seem incendiary, it's not: The rules around ratings aren't what a lot of people think they are," McQuoid said. "It's amount of blood, it's amount of red, it's interpretation of how you go about it. We had a lot of discussions about getting the balance right so there was gore and there was blood and there were fatalities."

The director went on to emphasize that the film will have blood, gore, and Fatalities, and that they wanted to make sure that it didn't move into "NC-17 territory".

The new Mortal Kombat movie will be released in 2021, and Warner Bros. announced last month that the new release date is April 16, 2021.
