Fans are now gearing up for Ryan Reynolds' return as the fan-beloved wise-cracking mercenary Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3. Since the threequel was officially greenlit with Shawn Levy tapped as director, fans have been wondering which characters will return in the movie.
Although there were notable characters like Domino (Zazie Beetz), Cable (Josh Brolin), and Firefist (Julian Dennison), there's no doubt that fans would also love to see Deadpool's other half, Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin.
Is Vanessa Returning in Deadpool 3?
Now, in a recent interview with TheDirect at DragonCon Atlanta, Baccarin finally opened up about her possible return in Deadpool 3. Sadly, she admitted uncertainty about Vanessa's future in the franchise, clarifying that the production hasn't yet reached out to her to return in the threequel:
"You know, from your lips to God's ears, I have no idea. They're writing the script right now. I'm usually the last to find out anything. I'm not even... I wish I had information I could give you but I really don't. But it'd be great."
Baccarin also noted that Vanessa was as good as dead in Deadpool 2, but the "timeline thing" end-credits scene might be able to bring her back:
"I think when we shot the second film, I would just die. And then after they screened it a few times they actually changed it to include this timeline thing so I think that's a good sign that the fans want to see her again. Whether or not it happens, it's not up to me."
Although fans witnessed Vanessa's heart-wrenching demise in Deadpool 2, the end-credits scene featuring a time-travel sequence might be a game changer. If a time-travel plot would be the narrative for Deadpool 3, this might mean that Wade Wilson's next adventure is to bring Vanessa back.
Nonetheless, now that Deadpool is back under the MCU umbrella after Disney+ acquired the rights from Fox, let's hope that some Deadpool 3 news would be presented at D23 next week.
