Upon the release of the first trailer for Morbius, fans were really intrigued by actor Jared Harris and his mysterious role in the film. Multiple speculations surrounding his character have surfaced since then, particularly, the role of a popular Spider-Man villain. He is yet to reveal the character he's playing, but it looks like fans could cross one off their character theory list.
Speaking with Variety at the 2020 SAG Awards, Harris was asked if he will be playing Dr. Otto Octavious in the film. Most fans have been speculating that this is his secret role based on the trailer, but the actor confirmed that he'll play a different character. "No. I love the imagination that the fans have," he revealed. "It's exciting for me to think about the imagination that fans have. But yeah no, it's not."
In the trailer, Harris' character seems to be Michael Morbius' mentor, revealing that he has known him since he was just a young boy. However, fans think he's likely bad news, and they can't wait to see what he'll be doing in the movie.
He is yet to confirm his real role but the actor seems to be really enthusiastic about the film's first trailer. "That part is always a surprise," he said. "And that's always impressive."
And while Harris won't be playing Doc Ock, this doesn't necessarily rule out that we won't see the iconic character in the movie. This also means that there could be other powerful characters that are set to appear in the film. Of course, these are only speculations. Regardless, fans can't wait to discover Harris' role in Morbius.
Morbius is set for release on July 31.
