Moon Knight: Oscar Isaac Defends Steven Grant's Accent

There is little doubt that people are hyped up for Moon Knight now that the trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series has been dropped. However, most fans also questioned Oscar Isaac's accent in the teasers. So is it possible that the Dune star didn't put enough research into Steven Grant's accent? Isaac has just defended his portrayal of Marc Spector's alter ego with an interesting explanation!

When the moon Knight trailer was released, people were expecting to see Marc Spector. However, Oscar Isaac's character was completely different, speaking in an English accent. The accent itself caused confusion in fans who wondered why it didn't sound authentic.

So did Isaac make a mistake? The X-Men: Apocalypse actor recently spoke to Empire where he pointed out that it is all on purpose.

"I stand by the sound of Steven 100 per cent," Isaac said. "It's cool [the accent] got people excited, and some were like, 'That sucks!' and others were like, 'That's great!' But there are reasons."

He further explained that the character's accent is a clue to what Steven is going through.

"That voice is about where Steven's from, where he's living now, and some of his believed heritage. It's not an idea of what Brits actually sound like," Isaac said.

That's an interesting way to explain it and we already know that Steven Grant has other personalities so there is little doubt we'll hear Isaac doing other accents in the series. With that in mind, we can't wait to see Steven and his other personalities in action later this year.

Moon Knight also stars Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow and the recently deceased Gaspard Ulliel who will portray Anton Mogart aka Midnight Man. The highly anticipated MCU series will finally premiere on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
