Moon Geun Young will be part of another industry soon.

At the age of 10, Moon Geun Young immediately scored South Korean’s hearts by debuting as an actress through the hit series Autumn in My Heart. She went on to appear in A Tale of Two Sisters before landing on more flicks, including My Little Bride, Innocent Steps, Painter of the Wind, Entourage, and Catch the Ghost.

After decades of serving the TV and film industry, Moon Geun Young tried working behind the cameras as a director.

Moon Geun Young To Present Three Short Films at BIFAN

Multiple news outlets, including The Korea Times, reported that the Goddess of Fire actress would make her directorial debut with three short films at South Korea’s largest annual genre film festival.

The 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) will see her creative project — Abyss, The Stage, and Be In My Dream.

Abyss is about a woman who thinks she has broken her limits. The Stage, meanwhile, explores the life of a woman who goes back to the stage over and over again despite the obstacles she faces.

Meanwhile, Be In My Dream tells the story of a man who suffers grief after losing a loved one.

Before confirming her directorial debut, the actress said she never expected to have such a career.

“I didn't go into directing with any ideas of where I'd wind up. I'm grateful that I met amazing film crew who have put up with me, a clumsy filmmaker," she said.

BIFAN 2022 Details

Moon Geun Young will compete with other directors in the upcoming festival.

The upcoming BIFAN will reportedly open with Alex Garland’s men and Jung Bum Shik’s New Normal. Meanwhile, 268 films from 49 countries will premiere at local theaters and on the local streaming platform, Wavve, throughout the event.

Viewers will also get to see Seol Kyung Gu’s works, including Peppermint Candy, Oasis, Silmido, and the Merciless.
