MONSTA X Kihyun Breaks History With Debut Album, VOYAGER

MONSTA X Kihyun immediately garnered success through his debut album, VOYAGER.

On Tuesday, Kihyun dropped the music video of VOYAGER, which served as his first solo album years after his debut as a K-pop idol. Previously, he already wowed his fans by singing the official soundtracks for different Korean dramas like She Was Pretty, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, and Shopping King Louie.

Only a few days after the MONSTA X member braved everything to try going solo, he immediately savored success through his album.

MONSTA X Kihyun’s Debut Album Is A Success!

Hanteo Chart recently commended VOYAGER and its title track of the same name for setting a new record on its list.

During the first week of its release (March 15 to 21), Kihyun’s VOYAGER sold a whopping 135,436 copies, becoming the highest first-week sales of any album by a male soloist released this year.

In addition, Kihyun instantly became the first male K-pop solo artist with the eighth-highest first-week sales in Hanteo History. His record was previously held by a few number of Korean musicians, like EXO’s Baekhyun, D.O., Kai, and Suho, Kim Ho Joong, Kang Daniel, and TVXQ Yunho.

This immediately paid off Kihyun’s efforts, as he reportedly created the album to show his personal paradise to fans.

“I tried to capture a wide variety of points that my fans could enjoyably listen to, mixed with the music style I typically like. As I put in so much effort, I believe that they’ll probably love it,” he said.

MONSTA X Confirms Comeback

Aside from Kihyun, his K-pop boy group is also gearing up to offer new music to fans.

On Wednesday, Sports DongA said that the group from Starship Entertainment would return in April with a new album. The agency immediately responded to the report through a statement.

Per Starship, MONSTA X will indeed release a new album next month. It also asked MONBEBE to support the boy group once they officially return.
