The upcoming December issue of Ultra Jump magazine by Japanese publisher Shueisha recently teased that Monogatari is listed to have an anime adaptation. The magazine issue is now available in Japan.

Not much info on the upcoming anime adaptation has been provided so far, just a teaser image of the upcoming cover. Monogatari was initially launched in Miracle Jump magazine in April 2014. It later transferred to Ultra Jump in January 2016 with 13 compiled volumes released so far.

Monogatari centers on spirits that have inhabited aged objects called the tsukumogami. Hyoma Kunato, the main hero of the series, does not like the tsukumogami after one of these spirits took away something that was very dear to him. He went to Kyoto and lived with Botan Nagatsuki, who admired tsukumogami and treated them like family.

Shueisha recently announced that they would be releasing three new manga titles that will be released on their next three issues. The first manga to launch in the magazine is Ayashimon by Yuji Kaku, in whichthe series is going to be an “underside of society battle” kind of story. Kaku’s earlier work with the publisher is Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku manga series. It was launched in January 2018 in the Shonen Jump+ service, then ended on January 25 this year.

The second manga to launch in the magazine would be Mamore! Shogomaru by Daiki Ihara. Shonen Jump describes the new series as a “school activities gag” series, and the manga’s main protagonist will be centered on a strange bodyguard. The third manga will be Doron Doron by Kagen Osu and will center on defeating evil supernatural yokai creatures.

We are looking forward to this upcoming anime and we feel that this is something worth watching from start to end!
