Many fans are enjoying the new Gundam anime, but it was recently revealed that two episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will be delayed, with the first-cour finale happening in January.
The show’s delay and new release schedule were shared on the show’s official Twitter account. There, info on why it was delayed was also revealed.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Why It's Different From Other Gundam Series
The Witch from Mercury is a new Gundam anime series by Sunrise that’s directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi, the director of Kiznaiver. He is joined by writer Ichiro Okouchi, the co-creator of Code Geass.
This new anime is significant for a couple of reasons, one of which is that it’s the first TV anime in the Gundam franchise in years.
It is the newest Gundam anime following Iron-Blooded Orphans which was released a while back.
Another significant fact about the show is that it’s the first Gundam TV anime to feature a female protagonist in Suletta Mercury, who unknowingly becomes engaged to another female character.
As for its story, the series is set in the distant future where humanity has created colonies in space.
In this age, humanity has also developed mobile suits which are used in battle and for security.
The show follows Suletta, a girl from Mercury who joins the Asticassia School of Technology, a school for elite students that’s run by the Benerit Group.
She transfers into the school with her mobile suit Aerial which secretly uses forbidden GUND technology.

The Witch from Mercury Delayed, New Schedule
The new Gundam anime premiered on October 2 with the release of Episode 1 (not counting the prologue that was released in July). Since then, each new episode was released every Sunday.
Recently though, it was revealed that the release dates of Episodes 11 and 12 will be delayed by one week because of special programming that will air on December 18 and January 1.
Here is the new release schedule for the anime:
- December 11 – Episode 10
- December 18 – Break due to special programming
- December 25 – Episode 11
- January 1 – Break due to special programming
- January 8 – Episode 12 (cour 1 finale)
Because of the delay, the show’s streaming release dates outside Japan will also likely be affected by the new broadcast schedule in Japan.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is now streaming on Crunchyroll in the US and in other regions.
Meanwhile, some countries in Asia can watch the anime on GundamInfo's official YouTube channel.
