Mob Psycho 100 might be all about Shigeo Kageyama but fans around the world have also fallen in love with his boss Reigen Arataka. Since the anime's premiere back in 2016, Reigen has been established as a sex symbol by numerous anime fandoms but some people remain unaware of how the "spirit medium" is the subject of thirst tweets around the world. for instance, Studio BONES president Masahiko Minami had no idea that Reigen is one of the most popular anime characters right now.
BONES had a lot of projects to promote at the recent Crunchyroll Expo and that included Mob Psycho 100 Season 3. While speaking to Anime News Network, the studio's president Masahiko Minami was asked what he thought about Reigen's popularity as a sex symbol. Not surprisingly, Minami stated that he didn't know about the character's infamy but pointed out some of the conman's charms.
"I had no idea he was a sex symbol," Minami admitted. He then stated that he understood why Reigen is so popular among fans.
"One thing about Reigen is that he's a bit child-like, but he does try to act very mature as an adult," Minami said.
He added, "I do think he is very visually handsome, but one of the big appeals about him is the combination of Mob and Reigen and their interactions with each other. Mob and Reigen each have some qualities that they lack, and as such, they complement each other very well."
It's awesome to know that Minami understands why the characters are so popular with anime fans and how their dynamic works so well. Needless to say, we can't wait to see Reigen reunited with Mob in Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 later this year.
Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 will premiere on October 5, 2022.
