Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Actor Quits Over Union Dispute with Crunchyroll

People are already excited about Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 but it looks like the anime's return is facing a major setback. Kyle McCarley has just resigned as the voice of Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama due to a disagreement with Crunchyroll on using a union contract.

Kyle McCarley has provided the English dub voice of Mob in the first two seasons of Mob Psycho 100. However, this could change in the third season. McCarley recently shared an update on his YouTube channel, explaining that it is unlikely that he will return to play the character in Mob Psycho 100 Season 3.

"With 99.9% of the work that I do, that would be the end of the conversation for me. I would say, 'Thank you very much for the opportunity, but I don't work non-union,'" McCarley said in his video. He then pointed out that he was more open-minded when taking the job in Mob Psycho 100 because it seemed like the streamer would consider the option of a union contract.

"Crunchyroll has historically been very, very hesitant to take anything that they produce onto a SAG-AFTRA contract, and, just because of the role that I have in this particular show and this particular show's popularity with you guys, it seemed like maybe there was an opportunity to change that," McCarley said.

He then confirmed that he had already discussed the possibility with Crunchyroll but it says that it is "not something that they want to do."

"I just wanted to let you guys know that unless things change, you're probably going to be hearing at least one unfamiliar voice on Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 -- maybe more," McCarley stated.

For now, it is unclear if McCarley's other co-stars will follow his lead. In the meantime, it would be best to be prepared for a new voice when you watch the English dub of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 will premiere on October 6, 2022.
