Mike Colter Reacts to Luke Cage Cancellation

Mike Colter made his debut as Luke Cage in the first season of Jessica Jones and after two seasons, Marvel and Netflix have decided to axe his show. The gut reaction would be to start a petition to save the show, but Colter opts to commemorate Luke Cage's death with the birth of his daughter.

With Luke Cage ending, I don't think this is the last we've seen of Colter as the character. Finn Jones is still expected to reprise his role of Danny Rand in the Marvel Netflix universe. I'm guessing they're going to do the same with Colter and Luke Cage. Judging by Cage's history with Jessica Jones in the comics, I think Colter will be a series regular come JJ 3.

It's also worth noting that the cancellation of the shows have sparked a lot of speculation in the fanbase, and some think that Netflix has decided to drop both IF and LC so that they could fuse them together into one Heroes for Hire series. Jones and Colter do have great chemistry, and a fusion of the shows could cut the fat off of from their solo outings which often feel overstretched.

Fingers crossed Marvel is planning on bringing them to the actual MCU with their own movies. Though it's implied that the Marvel Netflix shows still take place in the MCU, it's been clear that the references often go one sided with the movies refusing to acknowledge anything from TV.

Who knows, maybe Disney is also planning on reviving both Iron Fist and Luke Cage for their streaming service set to launch next year?

For now, catch the available seasons for Luke Cage and Iron Fist on Netflix.
