Mike Colter Discusses Luke Cage And Jessica Jones Romance In The Defenders

Marvel fans all know that Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones are going to end up together in the Marvel Netflix universe in the long run, but it looks like the two Defenders' romance is going be a slow burner.

Though Marvel's Knightress and Power Man serve as one of the most prominent couples in the Marvel comic universe, the two hit a pretty rough patch in the first season of Jessica Jones after Jessica was forced to put Luke under a coma after he was manipulated by Kilgrave's (David Tennant) power.

Now, during The Defender's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con (via Screen Rant), Colter discusses the romance between Luke and Jessica, saying that it'll take a while for the two to get back together again.

"The flame is not out, let's be honest. This is one of those things where there's a lot of fighting, we have to save New York City, I have to sort this thing out with Danny Rand. We have a lot of stuff going on. I think there's some progress, I think we make some strides but this is a long form television series that, you know, we could go there now, but then where do we have to go? It takes time.

If anyone's ever seen an episode of Naked and Afraid, it's weird. They're naked and they're afraid. They're naked, but they're also afraid… the nudity is something but the fear supersedes the nudity. So even if you were with someone, like Jessica and I, you're never really thinking about that because there's too much danger."

While some Luke Cage fans might be enjoying Luke's various flings (right now the Power Man is still romantically connected with Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple), everyone knows that Jessica is the Harlem hero's end game, and it looks like Marvel TV's trying to develop their romance carefully.

The Defender's premieres on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
