X-Men fans have been waiting for the Gambit movies for years, and though the movie's been under development for some time now, the project's made little progress with very minimal updates for the public. However, while 20th Century Fox seems to be busy working on newer X-Men projects like Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, Channing Tatum assures fans that work on the Gambit has just begun.
Speaking with ComicBook's Brandon Davis at the San Diego Comic Con convention floor this week, Tatum was asked whether he was still playing Gambit. The actor not only confirmed that he was connected to the movie but that he and the rest of the team are currently working on the project.
"Yeah of course. We're working on it right now,"Tatum told the publication.
It's a short answer but it certainly does reassure fans that 20th Century Fox isn't neglecting Gambit. It's also good to hear that Tatum is still attached to the role of Ragin'Cajun - reports came out earlier this year that Gambit director Doug Liman had quit the project and so far it seems like the studio still hasn't been able to find a replacement. Hopefully 20th Century Fox can find a director invested in the character soon so that Gambit's production gears can finally start turning.
