Kung Fury was one of the most fun "bad" movies to come out in recent years, mostly because it was just a wild film packed to the brim with action cliches and interesting set pieces. Now, we're getting a sequel in Kung Fury 2, and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joined by X-Men star Michael Fassbender, though they will likely not be the leads. Crazy eh?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Creasun Entertainment USA, the recently launched L.A.-based financing and production arm of Minglu Ma's Asian VFX powerhouse Creasun Media and run by Ma and George Acogny, has taken a majority stake in the film and come aboard as co-producer. Creasun joins Argent Pictures, the production and financing outfit run by Jill Ahrens, Ryan Ahrens and Ben Renzo, who is co-financing and co-producing the project.
David Sandberg, who was the star of the first film, will be returning as the lead and will likely punch more Nazis. Hopefully, he will team up with a crazier alternative to the Valkyries or Triceracop. Then again, most of us are hoping that Triceracop and I.T. Guy, among others, return to the sequel.
Kung Fury 2 will enter production this year on July 29. No official release date for the movie has been announced but we have a lot to look forward to. At least if you're a fan of the first.
