Michael B. Jordan's Chronicle Movie is Getting Female-Led Sequel

It has been almost 10 years since Chronicle gave us a super-powered Michael B. Jordan and it's about time for a follow-up to the critically acclaimed sci-fi flick. Chronicle 2 is currently in development and this time, the story is told from a female point of view.

In 2012, audiences were thrilled with the intriguing found-footage film that featured three boys getting telekinetic powers after discovering a strange object. Directed by Josh Trank, Chronicle featured a stunning performance from future The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Dane DeHaan.

Chronicle was a huge hit and people wondered if a sequel would ever be made. Luckily, producer John Davis has confirmed that they are developing Chronicle 2 and shared some interesting new details with Forbes.

"We're working on Chronicle 2 right now, and I think it's going to be great. We're working on it at [20th Century Studios]," Davis confirmed. He then stated that the sequel is "going to give us a chance to tell the story in a different way."

"We're going to tell it from the female point of view. It will have been ten years since the event happened in Seattle, and a lot of it's going to deal with fake news and real news and cover-ups," Davis stated. He also pointed out that the current times means a different setting for the sequel.

"More interestingly, it's the next generation getting these powers that are corruptive. These are young women just finishing college, they are empowered, and this is their journey. I mean, what a new and interesting story you can tell there," David said.

It's an intriguing new idea that could mean a visit to that strange object that the boys found in the first movie. However, it is unclear if Matt (Alex Russell), the only survivor from Chronicle, will be back in the sequel. On the other hand, it's probably best not to expect Trank to return for the upcoming project.

Trank had famously admitted that he isn't interested in pursuing Chronicle 2. The Fantastic Four director had gone as far as stating that a sequel would be his "worst nightmare." With that in mind, the new movie is going to be helmed by a new director.

Chronicle 2 is still in early development and there hasn't been any casting news just yet. However, there is a good chance there will be more updates in the next few months. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
