Hideo Kojima may be busy working on his next game, but he’s also continuing to drop some cool recommendations. Aside from arthouse films, Kojima also unexpectedly recommended Summer Time Rendering.

While this isn’t the first time that Kojima recommended an anime, it is quite unexpected given that he typically shares the movies he watched instead of anime.

Plus, his rare anime recommendations are typically shows that have already aired.

For reference, Summer Time Rendering is a show that ended in September 2022.

Hideo Kojima is one of the most well-known and respected video game directors, and he is behind the Metal Gear series, as well as Death Stranding.

Aside from his video game work, Kojima is also a notable movie fan.

On Twitter, Kojima posts nearly every day about the newest movies he watched, as well as his favorite new TV and streaming shows.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise for Kojima fans as he has previously called himself “someone whose body is 70% made up of movies.”

Last year though, Kojima surprisingly recommended Lycoris Recoil, the hit Summer 2022 anime.

Funnily enough, he only happened upon the show when he was looking up the unrelated movie Licorice Pizza.

Despite not being what he was intending to watch, Kojima loved Lycoris Recoil, enough that he considered it one of the best shows he watched in 2022.

Aside from LycoReco, Kojima also enjoyed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners -- not surprising given how well-received the show is by pretty much everyone.

Now, Kojima revealed that he is watching another anime, and it’s the under-the-radar hit Summer Time Rendering.

Specifically, Kojima shared that he found Summer Time Rendering randomly on Netflix, and he decided to watch it.

He said that he found it surprisingly good and that he likes the character design, script, drawings, and direction.

This is a surprising recommendation given that the anime isn’t really being talked about now, though it makes sense given that Kojima watches a wide range of shows.

As per his last update, he was already on Episode 10, so it’ll be interesting what he’ll think about the series as it progresses.

While Kojima is watching the show on Netflix, it is only available there in Japan.

For viewers outside Japan, Summer Time Rendering is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
