Melissa McCarthy Could Be Ursula in Disney's Live-Action Little Mermaid Movie

Melissa McCarthy is either one of the funniest actresses in Hollywood today or is one of the more annoying ones, depending on who you ask. Still, whatever you might think about her, McCarthy has had a fairly successful career and she will continue to appear in movies as long as she's in demand. In an interesting move, Disney has shown interest in the actress and they are currently in talks to have her play as Ursula in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that McCarthy is in talks with Disney since the studio wants her to play the role of this villain. Considering how fun and charismatic Ursula was in the original animated film, getting McCarthy to play her is smart casting. We'll have to wait and see if she gets the role but it would be ideal casting. Here's hoping that the script is strong.

Known for movies like Spy, Ghostbusters, and Bridesmaids, McCarthy has proven to be one of the funniest actresses out there. Granted, some movies have also made her a bit annoying but the actress does have some talent and it can be used well, depending on who she works with. Here is hoping that she captures Ursula's character well.

No release date for the live-action version of The Little Mermaid has been revealed.
