Meghan Markle is reportedly rubbing elbows with huge celebrities in Santa Barbara. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly carving out a new lifestyle that locals dubbed her "The Princess of Montecito."

How Does Meghan Markle Live Her Life In Montecito After Royal Status Reportedly Gives Her A Lot Of Leverage?

The former Suits star became an official member of the royal family when she married Prince Harry in 2018. However, in less than two years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back from their royal duties.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave the U.K. and settle in California. An unnamed source gave a glimpse of how Markle's day goes by with Closer magazine.

The insider claimed Markle has been dining in lavish restaurants, hiking in hills and building friendships with celebrity A-listers, including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Serena Williams, James Corden and neighbors Orlando Bloom and Kate Perry.

"There’s a lot more going on in Meghan’s world than people think, she just keeps it very private these days but her royal status gives her a lot of leverage. She spends most of her time in Montecito, but she heads into L.A. every week or so," the source said.

Markle reportedly spends time in Oprah's home and doesn't go to theaters to watch movies despite being a former actress.

"She spends a fair amount of time at Oprah’s palatial house, where they’ll kick back with her closest friend, Gayle King, and talk about everything from Meghan’s future plans to what’s going on back in the U.K. and how Harry’s coping with everything," the insider added.

"Despite her former acting career, she doesn’t go to the movies much but they’ve been known to watch private screenings at Oprah’s place, and other power players in L.A. have hosted them for dinner parties and spiritual gatherings."

Markle is also reportedly a self-proclaimed "foodie" and would dine in Beverly Hills or West Hollywood. However, she would call ahead and request a secluded table.

Markle reportedly loved gourmet sushi joints in the Downtown area and authentic Mexican places growing up. However, these days, the duchess allegedly prefers higher-end hangouts like Cecconi’s, Sunset Tower, Sugarfish or Lucky’s steakhouse in Montecito. She's also a big fan of Nobu and bills with her pal could reach up to $5,000 and they were happy to pay, according to the insider.

Meghan Markle Allegedly Plans To Pursue A Career In Politics

Sources also told the outlet that Meghan Markle is planning to pursue a career in politics. She mentioned previously that she would be going to Washington after the standing against the Roe V. Wade ruling.

Prince Harry's wife is working on her podcast, Archetypes, and the insider claimed that she chose to record in a luxury hotel for the podcasts.

"Their home is large enough to host most of her business meetings, but sometimes Meghan will secretly book a conference room at the five-star Beverly Hills Hotel, known to locals as The Pink Palace. She’s throwing herself into work on her podcast at the moment, which she can work on from home," the source alleged.

While Markle reportedly worked on her political ambitions, her husband has been supportive. The Duke of Sussex was allegedly happy to spend time with their two children Archie, 3, and Lili, 1. Prince Harry joins his wife in some of her engagements but returns home as soon as possible because he doesn't want to leave their children with the nannies.

"With all this speculation around her political career ambitions, everyone thinks Harry would be happy at the idea of being First Gentleman if she accomplishes her long-term goal. Having said that, he might be fine with it right now – but you have to wonder for how much longer," the source said.
