Meghan Markle uses her royal title "Duchess of Sussex" in almost everything she does after leaving the royal family. However, her move raised some eyebrows because, for them, she should have stopped using it the moment she decided to step back from their royal duties.
Royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti weighed in on Markle's move, and he agreed she has been using her royal title "constantly." But for him, it doesn't help the duchess.

Meghan Markle Is Using Her Royal Title Excessively
Sacerdoti shared some of the instances when Markle used her royal title. For instance, she introduced herself as Meghan the Duchess of Sussex when she produced a video aimed at infants. She also signed her letter addressed to the politicians about family paid leave as Duchess of Sussex.
"Meghan does seem to be obsessed with referring to herself as the Duchess of Sussex," Sacerdoti asked per Express. "That is indeed her title, but I think by constantly referring to it, she’s inviting mockery more than anything else."
Markle used her royal title again when she called U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin to support her call for family paid leave.
"I’m in my car. I’m driving. It says caller ID blocked. Honestly … I thought it was Sen. Manchin. His calls come in blocked. And she goes, 'Sen. Capito?' I said, 'Yes.' She said, 'This is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex," the senator told Politico.
Meghan Markle Is Inviting Laughter With Excessive Royal Title Use
Several were not happy with Meghan Markle's use of her royal title. Many netizens are calling out the Queen to strip all the royal titles given to her.
For Sacerdoti, Markle should stop using the title because it doesn't serve its purpose. Instead, it appears to others as a differentiation marker and provokes laughter.

"She seems keen to emphasize the separation between herself and ‘commoners' or those who are below her in society," Sacerdoti says. "In fact, I think her constant use of the title provokes laughter more than reverence or respect from her audience."
Another netizen on Twitter said Markle had to choose between flaunting her "meaningless" title in America or speaking about the issue because every time she uses her royal title it distracts the public from the actual issue she is campaigning for, so no one listens to her message. The public would end up discussing her use of royal title instead of the issue she wanted to talk about.
