Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly not invited to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals because they are not working royals.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reportedly Uninvited From A State Reception

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have mourned with the royal family following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in London and they reportedly received an invitation to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals Sunday night, but they were uninvited, Page Six reported.

"The invite is for working members of the royal family only," a spokesperson for King Charles told Page Six, confirming that the Sussexes will not be part of the reception.

A source confirmed they got the invitation but were allegedly not informed that they were uninvited as they reportedly only learned about it from the press.

"Harry and Meghan actually got the invitation and no-one has actually told them they are uninvited," a royal source added.

Another insider said, "I’m told they only found out they were uninvited by reading press reports."

Who Will Be Attending In The Reception Without Meghan Markle And Prince Harry

The outlet noted that several world leaders received the invitation, including President Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. The reception will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, a day before Queen Elizabeth's state funeral.

Several members of the royal family are expected to join the event, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The guests will reportedly be greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Although Prince Harry will not be part of the reception, he was allowed to wear his military uniform Saturday for the vigil of the Queen's grandchildren at Westminster Hall. King Charles and his siblings also held a vigil Friday night.

The palace previously said that only working royals would be wearing their military uniforms during Her Majesty's funeral. Prince Andrew was allowed to wear it during a special vigil with his siblings. Prince Harry wasn't allowed to wear his uniform before Saturday's event and he had already accepted it.

"[Prince Harry] will wear a morning suit throughout events honoring his grandmother. His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears, and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," his spokesperson told Omid Scobie, the co-author of "Finding Freedom."

Prince Harry reportedly did not request the change.

"He was simply prepared to wear whatever his grandmother made plans for. He's focused on honoring her and that's it. If they'd like him in uniform, I have no reason to think that he won't oblige," an anonymous source told Page Six.

The Queen will have a state funeral Monday.
