Meghan Markle and Prince Harry remain two of the most talked-about members of the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, unfortunately, also continue to receive condemnations from their critics even after their shocking departure from the palace in January 2020.
It was claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not on speaking terms with the other royals since their infamous Megxit two years ago. Reports even suggested that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William were among the most affected by the Sussexes’ departure from the royal life.

Did The COVID-19 Pandemic Steal The Limelight From Meghan Markle And Prince Harry?
Professor Cele Otnes told Express UK all events that coincided with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure from the royal family store the limelight away from their rebranding plans. The marketing expert told the publication:
“Meghan and Harry had the rug pulled out from under them by Covid, with their attempt to try to build their brand here. Covid really yanked the headlines away. Russia is yanking the headlines away. China is yanking headlines away.”
The Royal Fever author said the upcoming Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth also confused the rebranding campaign of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Cele Otnes furthered:
“In Britain, because the celebrations are happening there and they’re starting now for the big Jubilee, it’s more salient.”
She even described how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not able to capitalize on their separation from the royal family because of how their behavior was seen in the U.S. Of Megxit, Cele Otnes shared:
“I think their actions were perceived as individual, self-centred actions.”
The professor went on to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry failed to grasp the source of their popularity when they were still senior working royals. Because of this, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had difficulty carving out a new brand in the U.S.

The marketing professor stated:
"Meghan doesn't understand that the popularity that she could enjoy in that brand has everything to do with royalty and very little to do with Meghan - and very little to do with Harry.”
Cele Otnes believes the message sent by their titles further muddled Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Most, if not all, royal fans are aware that the royal couple was stripped of the HRH elements, their military patronages, and royal affiliations after Megxit. However, they continue to use the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.
The professor stated the Sussex titles became a “meaningless” gesture only serving to perplex the public. Cele Otnes claimed:
“I think it's kind of meaningless. If you're not involved in the Royal Family, and you can't use the HRH, and the Queen has said to you, ‘Fine, if you don't want to be involved, you're not involved.’ What does it mean?”
She added that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had not fully understood the titles have little frame of reference in the U.S. and said America does not “have the sort of reverence of these titles.”
Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have yet to comment on these statements.
