Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spoke about how their royal romance started and gave some details about their royal wedding. Her estranged sister, Samantha Markle, reacted to Meghan's claim about the palace telling her not to invite her daughter, Ashleigh Hale.

Samantha Markle Claims Meghan Lied To Her Daughter About Royal Wedding Guest List

In one episode of Harry & Meghan, Markle spoke about her tight bond with Samantha's daughter Ashleigh Hale. The Duchess of Sussex said in the documentary that she wanted her niece to be present at her big day. However, she was told not to invite her, which was why only her mom, Doria Ragland, was her family member, present at the royal wedding in 2018.

Samantha disputed Meghan's claim and alleged that Prince Harry's wife lied and manipulated her daughter because she was told by another source that the wedding guests list was down to Meghan, so she could have invited Ashleigh if she really wanted to.

"No, I knew [Ashleigh] was not at the wedding and it kind of saddened me but it is surprising to hear that there was a narrative spun that made Ashleigh feel like she was not invited because of something having to do with me," Samantha said when she appeared on SunriseNew Idea reported.

"Well, I heard from a royal insider who knows that [decision] was up to Meghan. So Meghan lied to my daughter, which made my daughter, I think, feel begrudging of me a little bit, thinking it was my fault. And remember this is at the beginning when everyone believed Meghan and everyone thought I was a horrible person, and the world had not seen the string of lies that even people like Meghan Kelly had come out and pointed out and Piers Morgan, the porky pies."

What Did Meghan Markle Say In Harry & Meghan About Her Niece Ashleigh

Markle spoke about her connection with Ashleigh in the Netflix docuseries. According to her, they are very close and have a sister-like bond, even if Ashleigh is her niece.

"I wanted a sister, and she was like a little sister," Markle said of her niece Ashleigh.

So, it was surprising that Markle didn't invite Ashleigh to her royal wedding. The Duchess of Sussex claimed it was what was advised to her at the time.

"How do we explain that this half-sister isn't invited to the wedding, but that the half-sister's daughter is?" Markle said, People reported.

"With Ashleigh, the guidance at the time was to not have her come to our wedding," Meghan continued. "I was in the car with H. I had her on speakerphone, and we talked her through what guidance we were given and why this assessment was made ... and that's painful."

Ashleigh, an immigration attorney, echoed the same sentiment as Markle. She confirmed that they are very close.

Ashleigh and her brother were raised by their paternal grandparents. According to her, she had not seen her mom, Samantha, since she was 6, and they only reconnected in 2007. However, she acknowledged her close relationship with Meghan.

"I think she takes on a lot of roles for me. There's, like, a sister element. There's something maternal. She's a best friend. She's, you know, kind of all the things," Ashleigh said about her aunt Meghan.

Ashleigh seemingly blamed Samantha that she wasn't able to witness Meghan's big day. She said she understood the decision not to get an invite to the royal wedding, but it was painful.

"I think I said I was hurt on some level, but I understood where it was coming from," Ashleigh said. "To know that it was because of my biological mother that this relationship that's so important to me was impacted in that way ... to feel like, because of her it was taken away, has been hard."

The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan are now streaming on Netflix.
