There seems to be no shortage of romantic comedy anime as another new show has just been announced. Recently, the Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms anime was revealed with a trailer.
Unlike other anime announcements which only get vague previews, this new show’s trailer features proper footage that shows off its two main stars.
Based on its premise, this series is a promising anime to watch for fans of comfy romance shows that don’t take themselves too seriously.
'Medaka Kuroiwa' is a Lighthearted New Rom-Com
Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms is based on an ongoing manga of the same name that’s serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine alongside popular titles like Go Go Loser Ranger and Blue Lock.
Its story follows Mona Kawai, a beautiful second-year high school student who charms almost everyone with her friendly nature and good looks.
The one exception is Medaka Kuroiwa, a transfer student with a perpetual scowl. It turns out that Medaka is a monk-in-training who has been forbidden from falling in love with any girl.
Taking this as a challenge, Mona resolves to make Medaka fall for her, all while not knowing just how much Medaka is resisting her advances.

Meet the Staff Members of Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms
There’s no word yet on the show’s voice cast, though its key visual and staff members have been revealed on the official website.
Heading the staff is director Yoshiaki Okamura. He is best known for directing The Fruit of Evolution. Okamura also worked on storyboards for popular shows like Baki and Classroom of the Elite.
Joining him is Kazuyuki Fudeyasu who is in charge of the series composition. Fudeyasu is a veteran screenwriter, with credits including Black Clover and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Rounding out the staff is music composer Akiyuki Takeyama. He has also composed music for Laid-Back Camp and Kemono Friends.

Medaka Kuroiwa Gets New Trailer Featuring the Adorable Mona Kawai
While not voiced, the new trailer does showcase Mona who lives up to her last name. After all, Kawai is almost exactly like the Japanese word kawaii meaning cute.
Even Medaka’s name is a play on his glum demeanor. Medaka’s last name Kuroiwa starts with kuroi, a Japanese adjective for black.
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 Studio is Producing the Medaka Kuroiwa Anime
The new trailer also shows off Medaka Kuroiwa clips courtesy of its studio SynergySP.
This studio should be familiar to many anime fans, especially as it has worked on popular rom-coms. These include Girlfriend, Girlfriend season 2, and A Couple of Cuckoos.
For now, there’s no word yet on a release date for Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms.
