Marvel's Wonder Man Series Reportedly Finds Its Director

A while ago, we learned that Marvel Studios is working on a Wonder Man TV series although it is still unknown yet at this point which upcoming phases will it be part of and whether it will be included in the current Multiverse Saga.

We do know that Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast to play the titular hero and Ben Kingsley is also set to reprise the role of Trevor Slattery after making his franchise return recently in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Now, the project has received a new exciting production update as DiscussingFilm has reported that James Ponsoldt is in talks to direct episodes of the Wonder Man series. The project is currently slated to begin production by the end of March.

If The Spectacular Now director ends up signing on the project, he will be joining Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton, who is also set to helm episodes of the series according to the reports back when the project was first announced.

It is unknown yet if Cretton will remain as the director of the project since he is also attached to directing the Shang-Chi sequel and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Ponsoldt has taken over the directing duty from him.

Ponsoldt is known for directing films such as The Spectacular Now, The Circle, and The End of the Tour. He recently helmed the pilot episode of the new Apple TV+ series Shrinking which stars Jason Segel and newly-recruited MCU actor Harrison Ford.

So far, Marvel Studios has not commented on or confirmed the report yet so we may have to take it with a grain of salt. If it ends up being true, it is exciting to hear that they have found a director since it is a sign that they are indeed currently working on the project ahead of its supposed start in a couple of months.

We should be hearing more news and updates regarding the project in the coming months as they are planning to begin shooting this March. It is exciting to find out which other cast members they have recruited to join Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley.
