Don Cheadle has been a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for well over a decade now but his role as James Rhodes aka War Machine has always been treated as second fiddle to the more popular Iron Man which is a damn shame considering he and Stark are basically "equals" in the comics. We didn't know exactly what was going to happen with Rhodey following the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame but thanks to Marvel Studios' expansion through Disney+, the character will now be given his long-overdue moment to shine.

Cheadle will star in the upcoming spinoff series Armor Wars which will tackle the death of Tony Stark and how it affects the people he left. The series is based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same title that is centered on Stark's Iron Man tech falling into the hands of the wrong people.

Aside from its plot, not much is known about the series and it looks like Don himself isn't ready to talk about it just yet. Appearing on a virtual Q&A session with ACE Universe, the actor looked back on his stellar Hollywood career, and when asked questions about Armor Wars, Cheadle did the unthinkable and walked out of the interview before coming back moments later to answer a "few" questions.

Disney+ continues to be beneficial for a lot of MCU actors who haven't been given that much time to showcase what exactly they can bring to the table. I, for one, am really thrilled for Cheadle who has obviously been given an upgraded role in the franchise. It would also be safe to assume that with Tony's absence, he will be the one to serve as a mentor not only to Riri Williams aka Ironheart but potentially to Morgan Stark as well who will undoubtedly become a hero herself in the future.

Armor Wars has not yet been given an official production start date or a release date. However, the series is expected to start filming by 2022.
