MCU Producer Debunks Young Avengers Project Rumor

Ever since the beginning of Phase Four, there have been speculations that Marvel will do a Young Avengers project in the future since they have introduced several younger characters into the MCU or passed the baton to a newer generation of heroes in the franchise.

Eventually, rumors also came that Marvel Studios is working on a project centering on them although we didn't hear any official words from them except that they're hyping the newer characters' involvement in future projects. Now, we have an update on the claims and it looks like they might not be true after all.

Speaking with Inverse, Marvel Studios executive and producer of MCU films such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Stephen Broussard, shot down the rumors that they're working on a Young Avengers project and clarified that they're only intending to introduce a newer generation of characters.

"A lot of Phase Four was about introducing the next generation and introducing new characters," he said.

The producer explained that what we're seeing is only "passing the baton" just like in Quantumania and none of them is a set-up on a specific project centering on the new generation of the Avengers in the MCU.

He explained, "I think it's very germane to the Ant-Man film because it's a generational film. The Ant-Man mantle gets passed down from Hank to Scott and now essentially to Cassie, who's almost more of like the new Ant-Man, even though she doesn't go by such, more so than the new Wasp."

"I think that's one of the themes that the next generation reminds us and that would be exciting to explore with Cassie going forward, or with any of the new characters, like Kate Bishop," Broussard continued. "People like that, who have inherited the mantle, and keeping to fight the fight, and make the world a better place."

With several projects that Marvel Studios is working on at the moment, it's not surprising to hear that a Young Avengers project is not something that they're eyeing in the near future. Perhaps we could still see those characters team up although not in a specific project centering on them.

Either way, it is exciting to see what they have in store for the younger characters that they introduced in Phase Four and how they'll play into the future of the franchise.
