Paul Rudd's journey as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been nothing short of astonishing (no pun intended) and it no longer comes as a surprise how he's now being presented as a top-tier Avenger. However, it looks as though the actor's days as the pint-sized hero are coming to an end, with Scott Lang squaring off with Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

All uncertainty aside, Marvel Studios is prepared for the future and unsurprisingly, Kevin Feige and company already have a candidate to potentially become Rudd's Ant-Man successor and it's someone near and dear to the character.

Speaking with Inverse, Marvel Studios' creative executive Stephen Broussard teased what's next for the Ant-Man character, saying that the role is passed down from one generation to the next. That being said, he believes Kathryn Newton's Cassie Lang is next in line to take the mantle from her father.

Broussard explains: "I think it’s very germane to the 'Ant-Man' film because it’s a generational film... the Ant-Man mantle gets passed down from Hank to Scott and now essentially to Cassie, who’s almost more of like the new Ant-Man, even though she doesn’t go by such, more so than the new Wasp."

Of course, Cassie becoming the next "Ant-Girl" is the most logical move for the studio but I personally think that we're still years away from seeing it happen. While speculation is running high regarding Scott Lang's future in the MCU, I don't think he'll be one of Kang's casualties in Quantumania. Well, not yet, at least.

Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania hits cinemas this Friday, February 17th.
