MCU Fans Are Losing It Over Mark Hamill's Surprise Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Cameo

WARNING: This article contains spoilers about the events in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Read at your own risk.

As expected, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was full of Christmas spirit and fun. Unlike almost every MCU project, the special was lighter in tone than what we're accustomed to in a comic book movie and TV series. However, it also has easter eggs and little set-ups on what we will see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as well as tie-ins to the rest of the MCU.

One major easter egg that fans have spotted ever since the special's release is Star Wars actor Mark Hamill's cameo appearance in a blink-or-you'll-miss-it moment where he plays a drunk Ravager on Knowhere.

Hamill's appearance surprised a lot of viewers since his cameo wasn't announced prior to the special. Not only it signifies that he is now officially part of the MCU, but it is also likely a nod to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, which the actor has publicly poked fun of.

The actor is also following in the footsteps of his Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford, who also recently joined the MCU as the new Thunderbolt Ross starting in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order.

Here are some of the reactions from fans on Twitter regarding Hamill's surprise cameo in the special:

Now that Hamill has officially made his mark in the MCU through this special, some people are wondering what this all means regarding his potential future in the franchise. The most likely answer is that this may just be a one-off situation and it's exclusively a fun cameo as treat for fans.

Nevertheless, it is still great to see the actor pop up even with very minimal screen time. Who knows, perhaps Marvel will start to consider having him appear in the franchise for a larger role in the future as a result of his appearance, For now, let's all just sit back, relax, and enjoy the holiday spirit.
