There's no denying that Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been plagued with several polarizing projects but none has been more talked about than Thor: Love and Thunder. The Taika Waititi film is a bonafide box office success, earning $761 million throughout its theatrical run but fans and critics have gone back and forth with it.

While some genuinely enjoyed Chris Hemsworth's fourth solo outing as the God of Thunder, others found the film's overly comedic tone to be too much to tolerate. Even Hemsworth himself seemingly aired his displeasure over the way the film and his character were handled and stated in a previous interview that he'd like to take a different creative approach with Thor should a fifth sequel become a possibility.

As it stands, it remains unclear whether or not Marvel Studios will give Thor 5 the green light but right now, the studio is pushing for Love and Thunder to be considered for next year's 95th Academy Awards. The list of Marvel's "For Your Consideration" campaign has been released online and includes the divisive MCU flick hoping to get in the Best Picture category. On top of that, the film has also been submitted for the Best Visual Effects and Best Director categories.

Naturally, fans were in major disbelief and most of them find the prospect of Thor: Love and Thunder becoming an Oscar nominee quite laughable. Check out some of the reactions below:

I mean, I admire the studio's confidence but Thor 4's chances are actually pretty slim if we're being honest. But hey, anything can happen, right?
