The future looked incredibly bright for young actress Emma Fuhrmann who made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2019's Avengers: Endgame as a grown-up version of Cassie Lang. During the time, rumors were already afloat that Marvel Studios is looking to bring the Young Avengers to the fold and it was obviously a no-brainer for Scott Lang's daughter to become part of the team.

However, it came as a huge shock when Marvel Studios announced that Fuhrmann won't be playing Cassie/Stinger in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The actress was replaced by Kathryn Newton of Freaky fame but the reception to her casting has been lukewarm, to say the least.

Newton made an appearance during the studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel and instead of getting hyped up, fans were only reminded of Fuhrmann and the huge opportunity taken away from her. As it stands, the reason behind her recasting has not been revealed and two years following the confirmation, MCU fans are still upset over Marvel Studios' decision.

On Twitter, fans cried justice for Fuhrmann whose acting career has yet to take off following her brief involvement in the MCU. Check out some of the reactions below:

I also found it bewildering that Marvel Studios decided to replace Fuhrmann and while details about her ousting from the franchise still remain a mystery, it would be safe to assume that the studio had second thoughts about keeping her on board. I guess they simply thought that she wasn't ready for the role but we'll never know.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is slated to hit cinemas on February 17, 2023.
