Matt Smith Shares First Look at New Dragon in Game of Thrones Prequel

It seems like it was only a few days ago that Matt Smith was admitting his hopes of riding a dragon in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series. Amazingly, the former Doctor Who actor has confirmed that his dreams have come true and excitedly shared the first look at his dragon Caraxes in House of the Dragon.

It was previously reported that Smith shared some teasers about his role in House of the Dragon. Interestingly, the Morbius star stated that he couldn't share too many details but admitted that he wanted to ride a dragon just like Daenerys Targaryen. A lot of things have changed since then and Smith has finally shared the first image of Daemon Targaryen's dragon Caraxes. Check it out below.

"My ride for the upcoming show Caraxes," Smith wrote before adding the hashtags #exclusive, #daemontargaryen, and #houseofthedragon.

We're loving Caraxes' cold blue eyes which may reflect its rider's bloodthirsty ways as well. With that in mind, we can't wait to get more updates on the Game of Thrones prequel soon.

House of the Dragon will also star Paddy Considine as Daemon's brother Viserys I Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Viserys' second wife Alicent Hightower, and Emma D'Arcy as Viserys' daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen. The new show will be based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire and Blood which follows the long history of the Targaryens as rulers of the Seven Kingdoms.

For now, HBO has not yet revealed the official House of the Dragon release date. Nevertheless, the Game of Thrones prequel series is expected to premiere on the network in 2022.
