There is little doubt that people are curious about the characters who will appear in House of the Dragon. After all, the Game of Thrones prequel will introduce completely new Targaryens who ruled several centuries before Daenerys was born. But who is Matt Smith playing in House of the Dragon?

Is Matt Smith in the Game of Thrones Prequel?

Earlier this December, it was officially announced that Smith will be joining the cast of House of the Dragon with Olivia Cooke and Emma D'Arcy. They will join Paddy Considine, who was the first actor confirmed for the Game of Thrones prequel.

Who is Matt Smith Playing in the Game of Thrones prequel?

Smith has been cast as Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of Viserys I Targaryen (Considine). The official description for the character reads as follows:

"The younger brother of King Viserys and heir to the throne, Daemon is a peerless warrior and a dragonrider who possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air…"

Is Matt Smith Playing the Villain in the Game of Thrones prequel?

For now, it has not yet been confirmed whether Smith's Daemon is the Big Bad in House of the Dragon. Without giving too much away, the character is an ambitious warrior who plays a major part in causing a huge clash in the Seven Kingdoms.

When Is The House of the Dragon Release Date?

House of the Dragon has not yet been given an official release date. However, the Game of Thrones prequel is expected to premiere on HBO in 2022.
