Matt Reeves, Ben Affleck Allegedly Have Entirely Different Visions for The Batman

Matt Reeves' The Batman hasn't been discussed much recently, though fans are wondering how the film will connect to future releases like Aquaman and Shazam, with constant reports of Ben Affleck wanting to leave the project then changing his mind. It's been a rollercoaster of odd news for DC fans who, whether they like Ben Affleck as Batman or not, just want to know if he's staying or going.

If this report from Revenge of the Fans is accurate, it looks like one reason why these reports keep happening is because both Affleck and Reeves have very different visions for The Batman. The veteran actor is supposedly fine with staying on as Batman while Reeves reportedly wants a younger star in the role. Take this with a grain of salt since the source has been wrong on a number of occasions but it would be interesting if this were true.

Going by this logic, it would seem like the two are at odds given that they both want different things for their version of Batman and Gotham. They could always kill two birds with one stone by making Batman Beyond right away and having Affleck mentor a younger character like Terry McGinnis. That's just a suggestion from a fan and nothing more.

Honestly, we're going to have to wait for more news on this particular movie, which could take a while. Shazam and The Joker will be coming out in 2019, while Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey are slated for 2020 releases.

No release date for The Batman has been announced. Reeves is supposed to work on a trilogy and a Batman Beyond movie but we'll have to wait and see if that happens.
