Matrix Reboot is Happening With This Studio

If there was ever anything that sealed the ‘90s kids into sci-fi, it would have to be The Matrix from the Wachowski siblings. Whether it's the bullet time or bullet freeze, there are so many moments that the movie has made iconic in its run. Yes, even if the succeeding movies didn't meet the original's standards.

If you're the type who wants to see reboots, then your ‘90s heart may skip a beat. The Hollywood Reporter has recently heard from a source that the plan for a reboot is becoming a little clearer, with the latest addition of Warner Bros supposedly now at the early stages of development.

What's more, two other names have already been tagged to the movie, including Zak Penn for the treatment and Michael B. Jordan as the possible star. Still, even with these developments, a lot of work is still necessary for any concrete progress to happen.

For avid fans, however, two people are definitely missing from the project, and that would be the Wachowski siblings themselves. According to the report, the original directors and writers of the trilogy are not involved as of the moment, and there are no hints that they are engaged with the reboot in any way.

Warner Bros hasreportedly approached them to get at least their blessing for the reboot, but even that has not yet been confirmed. Funnily enough, it was Joel Silver who has supposedly approached the studio for possible spinoffs for a new film based on the franchise. But from the looks of it, the studio is still keeping any commitments with him very offhand, if any at all, given his relationship with the original directors.

Even previous star Keanu Reeves, who portrayed Neo the Chosen One, doesn't seem interested in having a role, unless the Wachowski siblings are involved.

Guess we'll have to see if we'll ever have a reboot, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for any developments.
