Mashle VA Kobayashi Shares Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes Recording Story

Mashle VA Kobayashi

Aside from an interview about Hell’s Paradise, Febri recently shared another interview with Mash VA Chiaki Kobayashi of Mashle: Magic and Muscles.

This time, Kobayashi shared a hilarious story during one recording session, and it involves fellow VA Reina Ueda who plays Lemon Irvine.

Aside from a funny behind-the-scenes story, Kobayashi also talked about what he thinks of the manga, as well as his surprising similarities to Mash Burnedead.

To begin the interview, Kobayashi was asked about his thoughts on the Mashle manga when he first started reading it.

Kobayashi said that he found it incredibly easy to read in terms of how the panels were laid out and how the conversations were divided between them.

This might be an unusual type of praise, but it speaks to the quality of a manga.

After all, many titles have been criticized for being hard to read and follow.

Aside from its easy-to-read nature, Kobayashi also praised Mashle for its humor. He also said that he found the main character relatable.

Thanks to this, Kobayashi said that he found it natural to deliver Mash Burnedead’s lines.

It also helped that his natural voice was close to what the staff was looking for in the audition.

Of course, there are some differences between them.

For instance, Kobayashi does not have an obsession with cream puffs. Though he does love ice cream.

Kobayashi also said that he is not an avid gym-goer. While he tried to make it a habit, he ended up not joining the gym.

During the interview, Kobayashi recounted a funny story while recording that involves Lemon VA Reina Ueda (who also voices Kanao in Demon Slayer).

In one recording session, Ueda performed with a thick and heavy voice that did not match Lemon’s character at all.

When asked to “make it sound cuter,” Ueda instead went with an even thicker voice for Lemon.

Funnily enough, she got the OK to do that voice.

In response, both Kobayashi and co-star Kaito Ishikawa (Lance Crown) simply stared at each other in shock.

Given this story, it’ll be interesting to find out how Lemon Irvine will be depicted in the anime.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait for long as Mashle: Magic and Muscles Episode 2 will be released soon.
